i am leek soup. this is my website. right now, i am in my second year of studying aeronautical engineering. i am 21 years old and i live in ireland. also a homosexual(woo!)
i am experimenting with html. this website is hosted on an ubuntu virtual machine running on a hewlett packard enterprise dl380 gen10.

yooooooo i think i got ssl working. now should be able to access the site over https without the browser screeching about security
ended up continuing on to try and get fail2ban working, but i couldnt do it. i got it running, but i think i have misconfiugred something on cloudflare thats causing it to not blacklist.
update: it is 1 am and trying to configure nginx is making me want to KILL MYSELF!!!i am going to bed
update2: ok so i finally got fail2ban working. i think i was just doing it wrong, and tried using copilot to help which made me do it even
more wrong. ended up just editing the config file directly instead of putting custom code in through nginx proxy manager.

so this is an update as of 23-jan-2025. i stopped doing stuff with this website for a while for a couple of reasons
-entire network shat the bed completely, multiple times. first time was due to a hardware failure. a cisco 3850 switch decided to just give up the ghost. i have traced the problem to a faulty power daughterboard, but can't fix it because i do not have any soldering skills. second time was
becuase i, a dumbass, forgot to write config changes to nvram so when a switch rebooted it reverted to an old config and, once again, brought down the entire network.
-i believe my isp started doing some weird shit with blocking ports, as i got a message from them about exceeding bandwidth limits and following that, my port forwarding config just stopped working (used for this site and also to gain access to the network through a vpn).
-i had end of semester exams which i had to study for. these ended up going quite poorly, and were some of the worst exams i have ever done. this collosal fuckup has motivated me to manage my time better, spend less time on phone/compooter and engage in more thingsmaxxing as a friend put it.
update as of 06-feb-2025
college is going quite well so far. brain is better, mood is better, more productive. i think a big part of it is the weather and seasons, i fucking hate the cold wet weather of winter. the slightly less cold, still wet weather of summer is far superior.
also replaced all the cisco switches with ubiquiti stuff for lower power usage. now using a ubiquiti router too. all of my access points are still cisco though.
